Beauty Swap

When Crystal introduced the idea of a Beauty Swap over on Rural Housewives, a women in Ag page I’m part of, I knew I wanted to participate.  New friends, gifts, and fun beauty products to try?  Yes, ma’am!

I was paired with Katie Vaz, who, despite being a Rural Housewives founder, doesn’t blog, so I didn’t feel I knew her as well as some of the other women in the group, but I knew I’d have fun getting to know her.  But.  You guys.  She’s an OSU fan.   Even though Nebraska’s part of the Big 10 now, there’s still some old Big 12 feelings there, I guess.

However.  Football feelings aside, she’s a total sweetheart AND sent me some great stuff to try.

Sparkly red nail polish, a pedicure set, and some great eyeshadow and lipgloss that I rocked on NYE were tucked into a festive little penguin bucket.

photoI LOVE this shower gel that she sent, too.  It smells great, and it’s cheering for Nebraska, obviously.  She also sent some dry shampoo, one of her favorite go-to products.  Gotta be honest, I’m kinda scared of it.  Despite all the rave reviews and “gotta have” articles in beauty magazines, I’ve never tried Dry Shampoo.  Hopefully I’ll be brave soon and give it a try!

Thanks for all the goodies, Katie!  And big thanks to Crystal and the gals over at Rural Housewives for hosting this fun exchange.

So glad you were able to connect with Katie! I just adore her to the core! 🙂 Thank you for participating!!! This has been so fun watching whatever got and the new connections everyone has been making!!

P.s. I am with you… Dry shampoo scared the heck out of me. I put it in my hair one time and my hair was a hot mess. It made my hair have a weird texture and gave me INTENSE volume. My hairdresser still laughs at the story. I have since figured out the secret for me is to hold is further away from my head than I am used to with hair spray, etc. and make sure you shake the bottle well before use.

Hi, Anna! I’m so sorry that it has taken me so long to reply back to this! Between traveling for the holidays, settling back into work, then getting extremely sick for four solid days, 2014 has already been a whirlwind to say the least. 🙂 So glad that we got to connect through this fun Beauty Swap, and I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying some of my favorite products! And trust me, don’t be intimidated by the dry shampoo – it’s a life saver! Definitely agree with Jenny, though – shake it like crazy (you will feel the bottle start to almost get cold) and keep it a few inches from your scalp. If you don’t, it will be a hot mess. It will give your hair a ton of volume, and for girls that me that sometimes have “greasy” hair (I know, TMI and gross.), it complete takes that away. Anyways, thanks again for everything – be looking for a blog post on Rural Housewives about the items you got me VERY soon (I know, I’m a bit behind…)

Oh, and Go Pokes for good measure. 🙂
